As IOD PARC’s lead on migration, I have 12 years’ experience working on migration and refugee issues. I have a strong interest in the overlap between migration and areas such as development, livelihoods, gender and protection; and in the policy and humanitarian assistance implications of acute and protracted refugee displacements. My work has a regional focus on the MENA region and the European Union. Recent clients include the European Commission, IOM, UNRWA, UNHCR, Danish Red Cross, Danish Refugee Council and the African Development Bank.
My consultancy experience includes leading, managing and conducting evaluations, the provision of technical expertise, and research. I place particular emphasis on incorporating contextual, socio-political and cross-sectoral considerations into all lines of my work. I have a robust background in research methodology and designs, interview methods and in-depth qualitative analyses. Before joining IOD PARC, I worked in academia. I hold a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Edinburgh, where I also held research and teaching positions. My research has examined the European Commission’s migration policy in relation to Mediterranean countries. I am fluent in Spanish, English and Arabic. I am also a member of the UK Evaluation Society through IOD PARC’s institutional membership.
